Essential swimming kit
Everything your child needs for lessons — from reusable swim nappies for babies and toddlers to branded Strokes Swim School swimming hats.
Splash About Swim Nappies
For babies and toddlers in our water classes, a reusable swimming nappy is essential. We recommend Splash About's Happy Nappy range — comfortable, secure, and designed specifically for swimming.
All babies and toddlers who are not fully potty trained must wear an appropriate swim nappy. Disposable nappies must be taken home for disposal.

From September 2024, all children aged 3 and above are required to wear a swimming hat during lessons. Our branded Strokes Swim School hats are available to order on Etsy.
Wearing a swimming hat helps keep hair out of faces, protects against chlorine, reduces pool pollutants, and helps teachers identify swimmers quickly.

All children aged 3 and above enrolled at Strokes Swim School are required to wear a swimming hat from September 2024. It does not have to be a branded Strokes hat, but one is preferred.
Swimmers with sensory sensitivities (including SEN diagnosis) are advised to use a fabric hat rather than silicone. If you have any concerns, please contact us before the first lesson.
A "three strike" reminder system applies before a child is asked not to participate without a hat. Spare hats are available on poolside at the teacher's discretion.
